Fat Max Racing started out in a garage in Detroit, primarily as a
service to rebuild motocross suspensions as well as motors for Motocross
bikes. It grew to a size where the home garage was unable to handle the
demand for service, and soon found itself in a rented warehouse space in
the suburbs of Detroit. Unfortunately, the current state of the
automotive industry in Detroit was not attractive, so the founding
member picked up his family and moved back to his original roots - St.
Louis. Fat Max Racing may someday again function as a very high quality
suspension shop, but in the meantime, another bug hit the members of Fat
Max Racing. Everyone involved has always had a passion for motorcycles,
which is evident by the photos and videos you see in this website. Most
is just good old fashion fun. The restoration bug has also hit, and you
will see several old Honda's in various states of restoration. The first
completed bike, a 1969 Honda Z50K1, has also inspired Fat Max Racings
first poster. Hopefully, this will be first of a series of posters
available for your viewing pleasure. OK, so we will answer the question
everyone has continued to wonder about? How did you get the name Fat
Max? Max was our Golden Retriever, and as he got up in years, he became
heavier and heavier, and soon acquired the nickname "Fat Max". Enjoy
the site, and thank you for visiting.
